Richard, you played Kit Parkin in the original tour of ‘Sing
Something Simple’ last year. How does it
feel to be back in the show?
I can’t wait to start the new tour. I loved the play, the company
and the atmosphere around the production last year. Coming up North from London is always a
treat.

You’re too young to remember the 80s – but what do you associate
with those years?
Big hair! The 80s also makes me think of The North somehow. It might be to do with some of the bands.
80s fashion has been back in vogue recently. Have you been rocking any of those looks?
I like a big shoe so I’ve been wearing high tops recently. Those massive trainers are very 80s. I also like a bright shirt. Colours in the 80s were pretty vibrant.

Which 80s TV show or movie would you bring back?
I’m a fan of the original action films from the 80s; particularly
those written and directed by John Woo.
I’d like to see something remade in that style – maybe featuring that
classic 80s action hero look of vest and long hair!
Which is best – Michael Jackson’s Moonwalk or MC Hammer’s Shuffle?
Which one would you do at an 80s disco?
I’d go for the Moonwalk. I can do it a little bit.
